Toronto, Canada
Full-Time
Remote/Flexible Work

Let’s reimagine access to Canadian education, together.

Boreal Education is an EdTech company that empowers Canadian post-secondary institutions to grow and develop distance, hybrid and online education programs. Lifelong learning is becoming increasingly necessary for professionals to match the pace of automation and digitization in the workplace. Universities and Colleges must adapt to this changing profile of learners by focusing on flexible, employer-driven and digital-first programming.

To achieve this mission, we’re looking for a Student Success Advisor to join the Boreal team. This person will work directly with our first cohort of students and help lay the foundation of student success, needed for our growth in 2025 and beyond.

We’re leading the Canadian post-secondary sector to create and market online programs that put the learner at the centre and transform communities along the way. This role helps us accomplish that collective mission.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a trusted and motivated Student Success Advisor to join our team and support students with one of our University Partners. In this role, you put student success at the centre of everything you do, playing a crucial role in helping students achieve their academic and personal goals. Your ability to provide guidance, support, and resources will contribute to the overall success and academic persistence of your students throughout their academic journey.

In this role, you will build strong relationships with students from registration to graduation through regular meetings, e-mail communication, and virtual advising sessions. You will be responsible for understanding the unique needs of each student and offering personalized advice and assistance. By monitoring student progress, identifying challenges, and implementing strategies for success, you will empower students to overcome obstacles and thrive academically.

Within a year, you will have developed trusted relationships with your portfolio of enrolled students. You will have a deep knowledge of your assigned University partner and program that you share with others on your team. You will have developed the coaching skills needed to support your students, proactively providing guidance and troubleshooting at-risk issues to help students achieve their educational goals.

You will make an impact by:

  • Fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for students by maintaining open lines of communication and providing personalized guidance. All communications with students are over phone, video call, e-mail and live chat and are all actively enrolled – our SSAs never cold call.
  • Leveraging the program’s engagement plan, assisting students in selecting appropriate courses and creating a study path tailored to their goals. Maintain high levels of student satisfaction and retention.
  • Monitoring student progress, working with students to set goals and identifying any areas where additional support may be needed. Conducting regular check-ins with students to assess their overall well-being and drive re-enrolment that support their goals.
  • Responding and resolving any program related obstacles by providing resources or escalating to university faculty and staff.
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records of student interactions and progress in our CRM system.
  • Participating in University events and representing the University in a professional and positive manner.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Passion for helping students reach their full potential. You prioritize a best-in-class student experience by supporting students towards academic success. You know how to achieve goals through trust building and relationship development, including driving re-enrolment and overcoming objections commonly faced by students studying online. Formal sales training is not required.
  • Excellent communication, listening and customer service skills, with a proven ability to build relationships with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to think critically, research, and analyze university policy to solve student questions or challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with ambiguity to effectively monitor and coordinate a workload while contributing to a team.
  • Previous experience working in an educational setting or with students is helpful but not required.
  • A degree in a relevant field from a recognized university.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada.
