Boreal Education

Boreal Creates and Markets Online Programs for Post-secondary

Transforming Online Education in Canada

Across the country, Universities and Colleges are looking for new ways to increase enrolments and drive own-source revenue through innovative channels as funding challenges intensify.

At the same time, lifelong learning is becoming increasingly necessary for professionals to match the pace of automation and digitization in the workplace. Canadian post-secondary institutions must adapt to this changing profile of learners by focusing on flexible, employer-driven and digital-first programming.

Through our Online Program Management partnerships, we help Universities and Colleges rethink their program design and delivery strategies. Institutions work with us to reimagine existing face-to-face program offerings or create new programs altogether that support students along their learning journeys.

The Boreal Approach to OPM

We are from Canada and for Canada. Our Online Program Management (OPM) partnerships are inspired from global models but cater specifically to the Canadian market to provide the flexibility, transparency and social impact that Universities and Colleges in Canada need.

We have proficiency with global programming and learning models that work in Australia, Europe, and the United States, meaning we know what has worked elsewhere and how to apply those learnings and efficiencies to our go-to-market motions here at home. This keeps tuition costs low and ultimately benefits the students we serve.

Commonly Asked Questions

Online Program Management (OPM) providers offer a commercial framework and a range of services to help post-secondary institutions take their academic programs online in a faster and more effective manner than developing them in-house. While your institution retains ownership and responsibility for the academic content, the OPM provider brings the necessary capital, expertise, and additional capacity that often exceeds the bandwidths and capabilities of the institution’s staff and operations.

We know launching and managing online programs requires significant capital and resources. In our OPM partnerships, we provide the upfront funding and ongoing implementation, so we assess and validate every program through our program development process before investing. We explore degree demand, occupational demand, and the competitive landscape to inform the program’s viability, structure, and delivery methods.

We work with your institution’s academic leadership and administration to secure the necessary quality assurance approvals for a new or modified program. Each province is different, but we have experience modifying existing programs within the bounds of their approval processes (e.g. major modification), while maintaining the provincial funding for the unmodified program.

We act as an extension of your team, keeping student success and academic quality at the centre of everything we do. We use your existing curriculum, faculty, and brand messaging to co-design the online offering. Your teams are involved in as much or as little of the process to ensure your reputation and academic standards are met. Our expertise in online facilitation and carousel delivery structure allows for a flexible learning experience and higher graduation rates among working professional students.
