Universities and Colleges must adapt to this changing profile of learners by focusing on flexible, employer-driven and digital-first programming.

To achieve this mission, we’re looking for a Salesforce Marketing Cloud expert to join the Boreal team. We’re leading the Canadian post-secondary sector to create and market online programs that put the learner at the centre and transform communities along the way. This role helps us accomplish that collective mission.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Boreal is hiring a Growth Marketing Specialist to help connect adult learners with the programs that are right for them. You will work within our Salesforce and Salesforce Marketing Cloud ecosystem to design, build, and optimize the nurture and re-engagement infrastructure that moves prospective learners from first inquiry to enrolment. You will own:

 

Email Strategy and Automation Execution

  • Design, build, and optimize multi-channel automation campaigns in Salesforce Marketing Cloud across email and SMS, including full journey architecture and logic 
  • Develop and implement advanced segmentation and personalization strategies using data extensions, audience filters, SQL queries, and AMPscript to deliver dynamic, relevant content
  • Build and maintain modular, responsive campaign templates using HTML, CSS, and AMPscript that incorporate partner brand standards and perform across devices 
  • Own email nurture strategy across the full lead lifecycle
  • Establish and enforce platform governance, naming conventions, and asset organization practices that keep our systems clean and scalable 
  • Lead QA, troubleshooting, and resolution of campaign issues including template rendering, dynamic content accuracy, subscriber lookup, and automation failures 

 

CRM and Pipeline Support

  • Manage day-to-day lead data, pipeline monitoring, and segmentation within Salesforce
  • Proactively identify and resolve data discrepancies, hygiene issues, and segmentation gaps  
  • Configure and troubleshoot automation as needed to support campaign execution 

 

SEO and Blog Content

  • Optimize program landing pages and blog content for organic search
  • Conduct content audits and monitor organic performance trends to identify gaps and surface insights that inform broader marketing strategy 

 

Performance Monitoring and Optimization

  • Monitor live automations for performance
  • Design and implement A/B and multivariate tests across email and lead re-engagement campaigns
  • Build and maintain performance dashboards

 

Privacy, Compliance and Data Stewardship

  • Ensure campaign compliance with Canadian anti-spam and privacy laws
  • Manage consent records, including audit-ready documentation of collection, preferences, and unsubscribe handling 
  • Apply privacy-by-design principles to every new automation and campaign: data minimization, purpose limitation, and appropriate retention 

 

Critical Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in marketing automation with demonstrated expertise in Salesforce CRM and Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including Journey Builder, Email Studio, Automation Studio, Content Builder, and Data Extensions 
  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud certification (Email Specialist, Administrator, or equivalent) or demonstrable equivalent hands-on experience 
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, and AMPscript for advanced template development, dynamic content, personalization, and troubleshooting 
  • Ability to write and interpret SQL queries for advanced segmentation, data extraction, and troubleshooting within SFMC 
  • Proven ability to set and execute email nurture strategy
  • Demonstrated experience managing lead lifecycle strategy within Salesforce
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, engaging campaign copy, subject lines, and nurture content that connects with adult learners at different stages of their decision 
  • Solid understanding of Canadian privacy and anti-spam regulations 
  • Demonstrated AI literacy: actively using AI tools in marketing workflows and curious about where the technology is headed 

 

Strong Assets

  • Experience in higher education, EdTech, or online learning marketing 
  • Experience with API integrations for data exchange and campaign triggers 
  • Working SEO knowledge: on-page optimization, content auditing, and keyword fundamentals 
  • Familiarity with Privacy Impact Assessments in a regulated or compliance-driven environment
